The Ayi River Scenic Area is located in Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, Chongqing. The Miao people refer to diligent, kind, beautiful, and intelligent women as "Jiao Ayi", hence the name of the Ayi River.

The scenic area integrates mountains, water, forests, springs, and gorges, embodying grandeur, uniqueness, danger, beauty, and seclusion. It is divided into three sightseeing areas (Gorge Sightseeing Area, Walking Sightseeing Area, and Bamboo Raft Sightseeing Area), two leisure vacation areas (Reception Center Ethnic Customs Leisure Vacation Area and Niujiao Village Ethnic Customs Leisure Vacation Area), two experience areas (Drifting Experience Area and Outdoor Experience Area), one thrilling drifting area, one specialty goods service area, and one karst cave exploration area. There are eight major tourism projects open to the public: Canyon Sound Listening, Bamboo Raft Singing, Clear Pond Playing, Wave-Controlling Boat, Love in Miao Village, Qinglong Sky Ladder, Qinglong Cave, and Qinglong Valley. Hiking through the area, one can admire exotic flowers and rare herbs, ancient vines, and old trees; boating on the river, one can enjoy rapids and dangerous shoals, as well as billowing waves; staying overnight in the mountain village, one can savor Miao cuisine and experience ethnic customs. It is the preferred destination for leisure and sightseeing, folk experience, and water sports.
